An Open Letter to the Anime Industry
This is something I think you guys should all read. It's an open letter to the anime industry, posted on ANN.

I agree with everything said, point for point. And the problem of the 'old guard' as it were being resistant to change (even when it flies right in their faces) is probably the biggest issue.
Personally speaking, while I do download some series in fansubs, when the officially liscenced product becomes available, I happily get rid of all my downloads and pay the money for it. Plus, I spent the last few years buying most shows sight-unseen, based only on reviews and a few AMVs as my only visual reference.
I hope people in the industry veiw that letter and have the intelligence and cajones to impliment the changes necessary to recoup their losses and still keep the fans happy.
